Some people believe that no homework should be given to children. Others, however, say that extra work is needed after school for children and teenagers in order to succeed. Discuss both the views and give your opinion including reasons and relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Essay body 1
Topic sentence: no homework should be given

Essay body 2
Topic sentence: extra homework is needed

There is an opinion that school homework is an indispensable part of education, which would greatly contribute to learning progress. However, some people argue that additional work outside classroom is not necessary. Both views have their grounds, and a closer look is required in order to determine the benefit of homework.
The opponents of homework cite a number of key advantages of extra studying after classes. Thus, if students do not have any homework, this would enable them to allocate more time to extracurricular activities, such as sports or arts, which would bring as much benefit to children in their everyday life. On the other hand, parents who tend to assist their children with their homework would otherwise use time for more constructive activities.
Conversely, those who support homework claim that children would be exposed to additional studying that is widely considered as a path to success. To illustrate this, it is natural that within the limited time allotted for a school class students are not able to fully practice their new academic skills, and homework is seen as a good solution in this situation. Additionally, certain school subjects, namely sciences or languages, require additional time for self-study in order to achieve academic progress, which is another argument in favor of extra home-based learning work.
In short, I would rather agree with those who regard homework as unnecessary and time-consuming, and my choice would be only a minimal amount of homework given to children. In my view, it is essential that children have more time for activities that are not directly related to academic studies because learning is only one part of youngsters’ lives.
