Writing Task 2 — это всегда «рулетка», потому что мы не знаем, что приготовил для нас IELTS в качестве темы эссе. А темы достаточно часто могут застать врасплох своей сложностью. Именно по этой причине Task 2 по традиции считают самым сложным этапом в IELTS, что может быть препятствием к получению желаемого балла. Поэтому практически каждый кандидат, идущий сдавать тест, мысленно «скрещивает пальцы» перед тем, как увидеть тему эссе.

 
Размышления об идеях для эссе — это полезное занятие, потому что:
• развивает скорость мышления в условиях, когда ограничено время
• это предварительная тренировка перед экзаменом и проработка разнообразных тем
• помогает структурировать свое эссе и избежать оффтопика

Устраивайте себе периодически подобные ментальные тренировки, чтобы держать себя в тонусе. Пока вы готовитесь к экзамену, у вас есть все возможности восполнить пробелы, которые у вас есть в тех или иных сферах знаний. Вам никто не запрещает думать над темой столько времени, сколько нужно. В конце концов можно зайти в интернет и поискать идеи.

Кроме того, подобные тренировки помогают вам косвенно и для IELTS Speaking Part 3, где темы и вопросы часто похожи на то, с чем вы сталкиваетесь в IELTS Writing Task 2.

Essay body 1 — causes
1. career is the major/only focus as a result of changing values in the 21st c.
2. high expenses for bringing up children lead to more careful family planning (for example, one-child family)

Essay body 2 — effects
1. birth rates may gradually decrease
2. the fewer the children, the less likely that a family could face poverty/financial difficulties
3. economic effect on construction industry

Task Response: Disagree
Essay body 1 — not every child may have a talent or inclination toward music (some children are more talented in sports or other fine arts)
Essay body 2 — there are other more important areas to have as part of their education (languages, communication skills, critical thinking -> all of them are more likely to be useful in the future than music)

Essay body 1 — causes
1. mass media / news are among the most watched resources / most visited online; they provide easy access to knowledge about current events and affairs
2. some people actively consume news because they want to know various opinions in order to form their own viewpoints

Essay body 2 — dependence on mass media and news is negative
1. some news channels influence public opinion in a negative way (distorted or unsubstantiated facts may be reported) — people may not use critical thinking when consuming news
2. some governments use media as a tool for manipulating public opinion (state censorship may be part of ideology — for example, propaganda in the USSR)
