The bar chart compares the quantity of university graduates in six nations in 2010 and 2017, while the table outlines graduate proportions in adult population in the same countries and years.

Overall, the changes in graduate numbers generally correlated with their respective percentages in adult population. While China hosted the majority of graduates, Germany had the fewest. As for percentages, most of them grew, with China being dominant again and Brazil showing the most significant increase.

Starting with the most peculiar trends, China increased its graduate number from 3.0 to 3.3 million over the period, with its share rising from 1.5% to 1.7%. The USA ranked second, climbing between 2.3 and 2.7 million, whereas its proportion showed a slight upward trend, from 0.9% to 1.1%. Meanwhile, Brazil’s university graduate number almost doubled from 0.6 to 1.1 million, and these translated to a sharp twofold percentage rise from 0.4% to 0.8%.

Turning to the other countries, the UK saw a modest growth between 0.8 and 0.85 million, yet its share declined from 1.3% to 1.2%. Japan maintained just under 0.95 million, with a fractional decrease, and its percentage dropped from 1.4% to 1.1%. By contrast, Germany’s total increased marginally from 0.7 to 0.75 million, accompained by a slight rise between 1.2% and 1.3%.

Many people work from home using modern technology today. Some people think that only the workers benefit from this and not the employers.

To what extent do you agree or disagree?

With the rise of digital economy, more and more employees tend to work remotely. While there is an opinion that only they receive major advantages from this work practice, not their employers, I strongly believe that both these categories equally benefit from remote work.

On the one hand, I can point out three main positive sides for workers. One of the obvious ones is that they clearly save substantial part of their daily budget on commuting to work, smart clothing or office lunches. Because workers do not need to be physically present at an office, they have more freedom in adjusting their work schedules in accordance with their biological clocks. For instance, those having creative jobs may demonstrate better performance if they work at extremely late or early time of day, which does not fall within traditional office hours. It is also important to note that such flexibility may positively affect people’s work-and-life balance since they can spend more time with their families or hobbies.

On the other hand, companies are also key beneficiaries of modern remote work patterns. The first advantage for them is purely economic as employers no longer have to maintain large office spaces, covering regular cleaning and utility bills. These expenses often place a significant burden on businesses. Another notable benefit is seen in a better employee retention because job satisfaction levels in such companies tend to be higher. Remote employees are usually less stressed about their duties thanks to their flexible job timetables and less daily pressure posed in a conventional office work. Additionally, businesses allowing home-based work are able to hire a much wider range of specialists as the location of the latter is no longer important. This opens new opportunities to diversify the pool of skilled employees, thereby improving the quality of work results and profitability.

In conclusion, despite a popular view of workers being the only party benefitting from home-based jobs, employers also obtain a number of valuable outcomes from this practice. Not only can businesses optimize their budgets, but they also offer satisfying conditions for their location-independent personnel.

The influence of the news and media on people’s lives has been increasing throughout several recent decades. Although the news may be often criticized for causing negative impact on society, I believe that their positive effects still prevail.

On the one hand, it could be argued that the news bring mostly negative consequences. This view suggests that information presented by media channels should be treated with caution as it may be unreliable or misleading. For instance, media could deliberately report unsubstantiated or exaggerated facts. This may be especially true when journalists create scoops around famous figures in order to reach wider audiences and, as a result, earn more on advertisements that accompany such news stories. Moreover, news media in some countries could be censored by governments in an attempt to manipulate public opinion and limit access to true facts, which was or is true in pro-communist countries, such as the USSR and North Korea.

However, I share the view of those who emphasize the informative and educational purpose of the news, benefitting the society. By reporting current affairs, news programs play a vital role in timely informing about regional or global emergencies, such as hurricanes or disease outbreaks, and this can promptly mobilize population in order to respond to these situations. Another point is that the news may have an educational function by providing updates about cultural events, scientific breakthroughs or even space discoveries, among others. Perhaps, the strongest positive impact of news media is that they could raise awareness about social dilemmas or global problems. For example, a powerful message distributed through mass media by Greta Thunberg attracted global attention to environmental challenges facing the mankind. It means that the media helps ideas to go viral and may bring further change.

In conclusion, while news programs could be blamed for being dishonest and manipulative, not all news bring negativity. Therefore, I largely support the idea that news affect people in a positive way because they keep news consumers connected to the world.

The maps illustrate the prospective reconstruction of a residential house.

Overall, the existing area is expected to become more spacious and conveniently navigated as several elements of the house will be removed or relocated. However, the basic room layout will remain unchanged.

A comparison of the maps reveals that the major changes are proposed for the space that is immediately adjacent to the main entrance. Thus, the wall delimiting the living room will be completely demolished, uniting the room with the hall. Another significant renovation will be performed with the stairs as they will be relocated to the rear part of the hall and will remarkably increase in size. However, the storage under the stairs is projected to be entirely removed.

Turning to the rooms, although the living room will not undergo any major redesign, kitchen will be updated with new kitchen furniture along its leftside walls. It should also be noted that the internal doors presently leading to the kitchen and the living room will be uninstalled as their place will be taken by the new stairs. New doors providing access to the kitchen are proposed to the left of the main entrance door.

Overall, the Sport Centre area is expected to double and unite its present outside territories under one roof. This will require the demolition of outdoor courts and the addition of new indoor spaces around the existing pool.

In terms of the present buildings, a 25-metre pool located at the core of the present building, as well as the nearby changing room and seating area, will remain unchanged. However, the adjacent gym is planned to be significantly extended, doubling in size, and a sports hall will be created to the east of the seating sector.

Turning to the external area, two outdoor courts located on both sides of the current sports centre facility are projected to become integral parts of the new centre building. Thus, the western courts will be converted into a leisure pool, while the eastern ones will be replaced by the sports hall and two dance studios. In the southern part of the building, the reception area is expected to be expanded as a sports shop and a cafe will be added to the left and to the right of the entrance respectively. Finally, two new changing rooms will be made available in both southern corners of the new building.

The diagram illustrates the production of bricks for building purposes.

Overall, the process consists of seven distinct stages which can be divided into two sets: shaping bricks and treating them under certain temperatures. Various pieces of machinery are required for this process, including digging, drying and cooling equipment. In terms of materials, clay, sand and water are among the key ingredients.

The manufacture cycle begins with the process of digging clay by means of bulldozing machinery. The clay is then transported to a factory where it passes through a metal grid and is placed on the roller. Subsequently, the material is mixed with sand and water to produce a substance that can either be split into pieces by a wire cutter or be placed into moulds to produce bricks.

From this point, the resulting bricks proceed into a drying oven to be kept there for 24-48 hours. The following production stage involves heating the bricks in kiln at moderate temperatures up to 980o C and then at higher ones between 870o C and 1300o C. The hot bricks are later placed in a cooling chamber for 48 to 72 hours before being packed and ready for delivery to customers.

Overall, two leading companies, Queen of Seas and Sunny Sail, witnessed a decrease in passenger numbers, while the other two providers reported a rise. Despite transporting the fewest clients, Caribbean Dream was able to achieve the largest increase.

Queen of Seas, the overall leader, had a volatile client number, plummeting from 450,000 to 403,000 during 20 years and later rising to 422,000, which was still the highest indicator among others. Sunny Sail saw a reverse pattern as it was able to transport 412,000 individuals initially, and in the next decade the figure gradually rose to 423,000. However, the remaining part of the period witnessed a decline to the bottom value of 399,000 in 2005.

In terms of other providers, Voyage World started the period with 345,000 passengers, and this rate had an ongoing rise to almost 400,000 in 2005, comparable to Queen of Seas in the same year. However, the final year was less successful as only 362,000 bought their services. Caribbean Dream reported the lowest figures among all companies presented, although their customer base had considerably grown from 215,000 in 1985 to 245,000 by 2015, with the peaking number seen in 1995 at 256,000.

The pie charts demonstrate the statistics about the time English people of four age categories spent in front of computers per day in 2010 and 2015.

Overall, the majority of users reduced their proportions over five years, with the exception of those aged 41-50. The latter retained the smallest fraction on the charts, whereas people between 21 and 30 continued to be most active computer users.

It is obvious that the time that English teenagers spent on computers dramatically decreased from 220 minutes to 120 minutes daily in 2015. A similar pattern can be observed for individuals aged 21-30, whose rate also declined by 15 minutes to reach 220 minutes in 2015. It is worth mentioning that this age group included the most avid computer users in both years.

Likewise, English adults aged 31-40 tended to spend less time in front of monitors by the close of the period as their rate dropped from 185 to 150 minutes each day. The opposite trend can be noted for those at the age of 41-50 as they chose to devote considerably more time for this activity in 2015 (120 minutes) than they did five years earlier (90 minutes). Interestingly, this figure was identical to that of teenagers that year, both indicating the least active computer users.

The bar chart illustrates the overseas sales of milk from three countries in Europe, such as Russia, Poland and Italy, from 2008 to 2012.

Overall, there was a rise in all countries over the period. It is clear that Russia was the dominant milk exporter, while Poland reported the lowest milk export statistics. If the most significant changes were seen in Russia, Italy increased its milk export only marginally.

Starting with the leading nation, Russia exceeded the other countries in all years and showed a considerable rise from just under 25 million tonnes in 2008 to 40 million in 2010, overall highest. However, this figure decreased to about 28 million eventually, but still remained the leading.

The second largest exporter, Italy, demonstrated quite stable export data which stayed unchanged in the first two years (roughly 17 million tonnes). For the rest of the period, its milk export figure was slightly increasing to reach just over 20 million. As far as Poland is concerned, it had a downward trend initially, rapidly declining between 13 and 6 million by 2010 and later rising to its top value of almost 15 million, overall lowest and about half of Russia’s final indicator.
