Пару недель назад один из моих студентов прислал мне на проверку эссе на крайне интересную тему. Не перестаю удивляться фантазии разработчиков IELTS и разнообразию тем, которые эта фантазия рождает. Считаю, что Writing Task 2 проверяет не только языковые навыки, но и общую эрудицию и способность отвечать разнообразным интеллектуальным вызовам.

Читайте как можно больше тем эссе и примеров к ним, чтобы обогащать свой язык новыми грамматическими и лексическими конструкциями, пополнять свой запас аргументов и узнавать что-то новое из разных сфер жизни.

Эссе ниже я написал за 15 минут — это моя оригинальная работа, а не исправленная работа моего студента.

Without a doubt, there are contrasting views on when a child should begin learning a foreign language. Some people claim that primary school years are a perfect time to do so, while others hold that secondary school should be a starting point in this. In this essay, I will try to present my point of view on this issue.

Первый абзац основной части эссе: почему primary school — не самый удачный вариант для начала изучения иностранного языка.

It is important to keep in mind that there is a belief that children grasp new knowledge very quickly at a young age, however, starting to learn a new language at primary school seems wrong due to a number of reasons. One of them is the fact that children still have insufficient experience with their native language, and primary school is the place to improve it through writing, reading and speaking. Another aspect is that learning a language requires a great deal of attention and concentration that children usually cannot show due to obvious physiological and psychological peculiarities of their age.

Второй абзац основной части эссе: почему secondary school кажется более приемлемым решением.

On the other hand, the secondary school period, in my opinion, is a better choice in beginning to learn a foreign language because children are already accustomed to study routines. By grades 4 or 5, pupils usually have a better picture of the world and more local language expertise, which can be a sufficient basis for another language. At this stage, they are more capable of comparing their mother tongue with a foreign one and understanding the differences between the two.

Заключение: сделаем summary и еще раз подчеркнем свою позицию.

In conclusion, I find it appropriate for a child to start learning a foreign language at a secondary school since it is believed that children are more efficient learners because they possess more solid native language foundation than they do when they transition from kindergarten to school.
